Vocal Program                  Patricia Hussey, Director

Program Highlights:

Staged opera scenes, aria recitals, and other concerts provide abundant performance opportunities for vocalists to choose from - in addition to the main opera production.

Vocalists of all levels will benefit from an array of private lessons, master classes and coachings, plus voice and diction training - with emphasis on the individual singer’s needs and interests. Coaches and teachers also devote significant personal attention to preparing each singer for performances.

Bruce Stasyna of the San Diego Opera, Washington Concert Opera, Boston Lyric Opera & Vero Beach Opera joins as conductor for the 2017 season, with vocal coaches Sabrina De Carlo, Riccardo Scilipoti, and Michele Reali.

Singers not participating in Suor Angelica & Gianni Schicchi  will be grouped in ensembles to prepare staged scenes for performance.

Opera Workshop:

  • Private instruction & coachings

    • Bel Canto Traditions (Vocal & Musical)

Please note:  Due to the new Concerto Seminar for instrumentalists being offered in 2018,  we have deferred the annual Vocal/Opera Program to 2019 to assure sufficient facilities space.   We will be announcing details of the 2019 season in Spring of 2018.  Stay tuned!

The Amalfi Vocal Program provides a full immersion-style study and performance experience for singers under the artistic direction of an internationally acclaimed faculty of voice teachers and vocal coaches.

What does the Amalfi Vocal Program offer that is markedly different from other summer programs?

  • The opportunity to sing in opera productions with a professional opera house orchestra.

  • Master classes and seminars with world-renowned professionals in the field.

  • An individually tailored program suited to your needs and interests as a singer.

  • A warm and supportive community where enduring friendships and mentoring relationships flourish, and each singer is valued and encouraged.

  • Seminar on Auditions & Competitions: Techniques for Success

Singers will receive a detailed schedule upon arrival, with a daily break-down of their coachings and rehearsals, master classes, performances, etc. Voice lessons will be scheduled individually between the student and the voice teacher. Excursions to area landmarks and out-ot-town concert trips are open to all.  The Italian siesta-hour or “riposo” after lunch gives everyone some private time or a chance to relax on the beach. Evenings are devoted to performances, convivial dinners and post-concert festivities.
