
Thomas Lymenstull - Piano

Pianist Thomas Lymenstull has performed throughout the United States and in Japan, Taiwan, and the People's Republic of China. Dr. Lymenstull has performed chamber music with Ronald Leonard, Mitchell Lurie, Charles Castleman, and the Kronos Quartet, among many others. Dr. Lymenstull won first prize in the Joanna Hodges International Piano Competition and was a prizewinner in other national and international competitions.
Before coming to Interlochen Arts Academy, Dr. Lymenstull was Associate Professor of Piano Pedagogy at the University of Southern California. At USC he was honored as a Teaching Fellow of the USC Center for Excellence in Teaching, and received a Zumberge Faculty Research and Innovation Fellowship, USC's most prestigious research grant, to research piano music from China. He has subsequently presented lecture recitals on Chinese piano music and has included this repertoire on concert programs. Dr. Lymenstull's articles have appeared in American Music Teacher and he has given workshops and masterclasses in Japan, Korea, China, Singapore, and Taiwan. Dr. Lymenstull divides his summers between teaching and performing at the Interlochen Arts Camp and at the Montecito Music Festival in California. In July 2014 Dr. Lymenstull was invited to present lessons and masterclasses at the Shanghai International Piano Festival.
